To all those concerned,
Today I learned that Television transitioned from analog to digital. Before 2009, TV signals were analog, working off satellite dishes that sent signals back and forth from the Earth to space. These satellites were geostationary, which means they match Earth’s rotation. The geostationary satellites orbit above the equator, with each dish pointing towards a particular satellite.
After 2009, TV’s transitioned from analog to digital. Digital TVs had much smaller bandwidth with better signal, crisper images, and better sound quality. On a digital TV, the user no longer has to adjust the antenna to find a better signal, as was the case with analog TV. When TVs transitioned, companies offered digital TV converter boxes which allowed older analog TVs to work longer and saved the user money.
Eventually, consumers started to purchase digital TVs which marked a major global technological advancement. These new digital TVs were a great way for users in rural areas who previously struggled with connection to continue watching their favorite programs without the hassle of TV static or bad signal.
